To Be Frank!

1 Dec

To his Granny (with whom he lives) he is known as Vincent Frank, but to us he is known as Frankmusik, 80s inspired, synth inspired, style inspired (and inspirer), live act and DJ, Frankmusik! The sharp and striking 23-year-old, born in Thornton Heath, London, released his debut album, Complete Me, earlier this year through Island Records. But music was not always in the card for Vincent, or at least not this style of music.

Vincent was originally into beat-boxing, which did not go down well at his posh upper-class boarding school, although he made it pretty far in some notable British talent competitions. He went on to become a fashion school dropout also, at the London College of Fashion. Whilst we don’t doubt his fashion abilities, we are mighty pleased that he instead chose to focus on his music career, with his debut album reaching the top 10 in UK music charts and his debut tour with Ladyhawke and Ida Maria, two of our favourite women!

As a young lad, Vincent was heavily influenced by 70s and 80s music, like Human League and Billy Ocean. He still loves songs like Billy Ocean’s “Get In My Car”, because whilst they’re corny, everyone knows the lyrics because “they’re such great songs…”none of this boom boom pow crap” (so far officially the worst song of the year and I can’t see anyone else outdoing it!)

To the delight of her more local fans, Ladyhawke, or Pip Brown, will be returning to her home in the land of the long white cloud and Australian soil after she’s finished her tour in the US. Pip started off in a band called the Teenagers with  Syndey-sider, Nick Littlemore, but since she went solo and released her self titled debut album last year, she has been in high demand all over the world. Now, she is finally returning to us with Adelaide lads The Swiss for another tour.
