Best Ever Remixes Part 1

24 May

It’s no secret, here at Je Danse we have a weak spot for a good remix. Whether it be a funky nu-disco reconstruction, a hard hitting dirty electro re-edit or just something to give a song a bit more of a beat, if it makes it sound better or great in a different way, we’re all over it. So, we have compiled our favourite remixes over the past few years. Here’s the first installment (The Funky Installment).

Flight Facilities feat. Giselle – Crave You (Cassian Remix) This is a pretty new remix from Gang Bang’s Cassian, but it’s instantly likable with it’s funky underlayering. Perfect for sipping cocktails to.

Cut Copy – Far Away (Hercules and Love Affair Remix) Hercules and Love Affair have always been a favourite, but they don’t do a lot of remixes, this one of Australia’s Cut Copy sets the bar on funky pretty damn high.

Metric – Help I’m Alive (The Twelves Remix) Here the Twelves kind of slow the song down whilst at the same time funking it up and adding in some nice synth.

Jamie Lidell – A Little Bit Of Feel Good (Mr. Oizo) Mr. Oizo adds his usual electro-funk-soul sound over an already funky-soul song and just makes it sound extremely cool.

Crystal Fighters – I Love London (Paparazzi Remix) I don’t think that funky is really the word for this one, but then I don’t know what is. It’s just crazy really, but very affective.

Cut Copy – Far Away (Damn Arms Remix) Yes another remix of the same song, but these of these were great in their own right. Once again very funky and nice to dance to.

Jamiroquai – Canned Heat (Calvin Harris) Jamiroquai was naughties king of funk and Calvin Harris turns this funky club classic into a new electro dance hit without any detriment to the original disco feel.

Filthy Dukes – This Rhythm (Fred Falke Remix) In the last few years Fred Falke has emerged from the underground dance scene in a big way, with his own unique blend of house and funk he can be a bit hit and miss, but this is definitely a hit.

The Virgins – Rich Girls (Le Castle Vania Remix) The original was brought to our attention by Gossip Girl and we loved it, then we heard this remix, and we loved it even more!

The Futureheads – Skip To The End (Digitalism Remix) Digitalism take this standard English indie-rock track and turn it into another one their magical indie-tech hits.

Florence and the Machine – Drumming Song (Boy 8-Bit Remix) When you’re remixing one the most popular indie acts around, it’s easy to get yourself criticized for ruining previously perfect tracks, but Boy 8-Bit are able to compliment an already amazing track excellently.
