Adidas Goes Daft Punk (and Star Wars and Football etc. etc.)

10 Jun

Adidas has gone all out with their new advertising campaign for a Star Wars collection of clothing and footwear.  Using re-imaged scenes from original Star Wars movies, with the titanic French electro duo, Daft Punk, as well as David Beckham, Noel Gallagher, Snoop Dogg, Franz Beckenbaur, Ian Brown, DJ Neil Armstrong, Ciara, Calle 13, Jay Baruchel and others.

We know that adverts leading into the world cup are always great, but this one goes one further including Daft Punk. Enjoy.

24 Jan

The results are out for the Urb magazine best of the decade poll, so here’s a peak at the winners:

Artist Of The Decade:

1. Radiohead

2. Outkast

3. Daft Punk

Okay, seriously, Daft Punk being beaten by Radiohead and OUTKAST! What’s up with that?! Not sure that these are really worthy winners a part from Daft Punk that should have been number one, but okay sure.

Album Of The Decade

1. “Discovery” – Daft Punk (2001)

2. “Kid A” – Radiohead (2000)

3. “Stankonia” – Outkast (2000)

Not very exciting having the same three artists as in the last category and all albums from the very start of the decade, but at least the ordering is okay this time.

Best Songs Of The Decade

1. “Seven Nation Army” – The White Stripes (2003)

2. “One More Time” – Daft Punk (2000)

3. “Hey Ya” – Outkast (2003)

A well deserved number one and two!

Best Label Of The Decade

1. Rhymesayer Entertainment

2. Def Jux

3. Ed Banger

A disgusting number one and two, but French electro house label Ed Banger hold a well deserved spot.

Daft Punk – Robot Rock

Outkast – Ms Jackson

Mr. Oizo – Stunt

Kids You Want At The Bar

23 Nov

Electro duo, Kids At The Bar, from Oklahoma City are certainly making their mark in 2009. Rad (DJ/producer) and Mark Buckley (sound engineer) make up the outfit, joining together just a year ago to make a remix for friends, !Trash Yourself.

They’ve also remixed Australia’s own Empire of the Sun, labelling them “very talented”. The remix was origianlly meant only for DJ sets, but the guys said that they were getting such a good response that they decide to share it with everyone (and we are so greatful!)

Their dicey, trashy, electro remixes have really been getting us going here at JeDanse, so we thought it only fair for you to join in.

!Trash Yourself – Touch (Kids At The Bar Remix)**Highly Recommended

Data – Rapture (Kids At The Bar Remix)**Highly Recommended

Kill Hannah – New York Speed (Kids At The Bar Remix)

Harlem Shakes – Strictly Game (Kids At The Bar Remix) *Posted before, but still highly recommended!

Legendary French electronic DJ duo, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, aka DAFT PUNK are going to be providing the soundtrack for the future-set epic Tron Legacy. And, what is more, we were all stunned with excitement to hear that the soundtrack job was to coincide with them reuniting for a live tour! What’s more, they’ll also make a cameo appearance in the movie.

Hopefully the tour will include the land downunder, but this does support rumours, ealier this year, that the duo would be returning to our shores for Future Music 2011, maybe this means they’ll be here a bit earlier…but if not, I’m sure we’re all willing to wait.

Daft Punk – Aerodynamic Obama (Adam Freeland Edit)

Daft Punk – Around The World 2009 (Alive Re-Edit)
