BDO: probably the biggest music festival in the country, sells out in most states before the second lineup is released, Jan 17-Jan31st. Fagget Fairys

22 Oct

fagget fairys

The Faggot Fairys is an amazing dirty, grimey electro duo from Denmark, comprised of the lesbian couple; Ena (Elena Carli)- former model who met DJ Sensimilla (Camilla Hjort) in Copenhagen nightclub, Vega. The meeting lead to Ena needing 15 stitches after stage diving onto a broken bottle in attempt to impress Sensimilla….but also lead to the beginning of the Fagget Fairys.

They’re sexy, bassey and dirty Feed The Horse, produced in NYC with Grammy-Award winning Rasmus Billie Bahncke and it will leave you druelling for more…luckily they have a full album out with Music For Dreams now, full of luscious, sexy vocals with 4a.m. written all over them!

7 Oct

Legendary French electronic DJ duo, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, aka DAFT PUNK are going to be providing the soundtrack for the future-set epic Tron Legacy. And, what is more, we were all stunned with excitement to hear that the soundtrack job was to coincide with them reuniting for a live tour! What’s more, they’ll also make a cameo appearance in the movie.

Hopefully the tour will include the land downunder, but this does support rumours, ealier this year, that the duo would be returning to our shores for Future Music 2011, maybe this means they’ll be here a bit earlier…but if not, I’m sure we’re all willing to wait.

Ronson + Gucci

6 Oct

British music producer and co-founder of Allido Records, Mark Ronson is getting back in touch with his fashion roots. The ex-model has teamed up with high fashion label, Gucci, to produce a line of trainers. The Gucci sneaker line will include 16 men’s styles and 2 women’s and will be sold through Gucci Icon Temporary Stores.

The first store is to be opened on October 23rd at Crosby Street in Soho, New York and will then tour through Asian and European cities including London, Berlin, Tokyo and Paris, with each store staying open for only 2-3 weeks, and a new style being unveiled at each one. This Ronson line will sell for $500-$600(US) each, whilst the Gucci Icon Temp will sell for $500-$1400 (US). Now we’ve just got our fingers crossed that it will make it across to Australia.

Introducing…Lego Johnson

6 Oct

Loose Cannons

If you missed the Loose Cannons Australia tour, you should be very, very sorry because they were amazing live! But, the good news is that Lord Fader and Kaiser Saucy have joined with three others to form a new secret alter ego live band called Lego Johnson. After spending 2008 strengthening their reputation as club and festival favourites, Kaiser and Fader decided that it was time for a shift in their music and so, they recruited three new members and added the three elements crucial to a live rock band- drums, guitars and bass.

The five piece has already played secret, sold out shows at 229 & Troubadour in Earl’s Court. The first single, “Television” is set to be released soon with remixes from Micky Slim and Cassette Jam.
